Meraldis Verdejo de Yllera 75 CL

Meraldis Verdejo de Yllera 75 CL Vinificación Integral is a premium white wine from the D.O. Rueda, produced by Bodegas Grupo Yllera. Made from 100% Verdejo grapes from old vineyards (over 40 years old) grown in sandy soils rich in boulders in Segovia and Villanueva de Duero, it is vinified in 500-liter oak barrels. The wine is harvested by hand, pressed with stems, aged on lees for 6 days and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by barrel aging for 13 to 17 months, including malolactic fermentation. It is not filtered, which enhances the purity of the grapes. Tasting notes: Color: Golden yellow.
Aroma: Intense, with notes of ripe fruit (apple, peach, apricot, grapefruit, tangerine) and tropical hints, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, smoke and aniseed from the oak. Palate: Full-bodied, creamy, elegant, with balanced acidity, great structure and a long, lingering finish.

Vintage highlights: 2020: Rated as “excellent” by the Rueda D.O., a rainy year that adds complexity. Aged for 17 months. Awards: 93 in the Peñín Guide, 92 in Robert Parker, 94 in Wine Enthusiast, Gold Mundus Vini 2023.

2021: Very good vintage, cooler and wetter, with structured wines and slightly less aromatic intensity than in 2020. Aged for 16 months.

Pairing: Ideal with seafood, fish, smoked or soft cheeses. Serve slightly chilled, without chilling excessively, and decant for a better expression.
