Jesús Yllera Crianza Ribera del Duero 75 CL

Jesús Yllera Crianza Ribera del Duero 75 CL is a red wine from Bodegas Yllera in D.O. Ribera del Duero, Spain, created as a tribute to one of the founders of the winery, Don Jesús Yllera, known for his vibrant and passionate personality. This aged wine is a blend of mainly Tempranillo (87-89%), Cabernet Sauvignon (11-12%) and occasionally a touch of Merlot (1%), sourced from 45-50 year old vines grown at 700-1000 meters altitude in Valladolid and Burgos.

The vineyards, trained in traditional bush vines, are planted in clay and sandy soils, balancing drainage and water retention to obtain concentrated and balanced grapes. The wine undergoes a manual harvest with double selection (in the vineyard and in the winery) to guarantee quality.

The grapes are processed whole without destemming to enhance fruit aromas, with gravity tank filling, daily pumping over for color extraction and fermentation at 28 °C in stainless steel. It ages for 12 months in French and American oak barrels (50% new, 50% second use in some vintages) and rests in bottle before release. The result is an intense cherry red wine with aromas of ripe black fruits (plum, blackberry, blueberry), vanilla, cocoa, licorice and mineral notes (flint, graphite).

• The palate is powerful but elegant, with ripe, velvety tannins, balanced acidity and a long, fresh finish.
• It pairs well with red and white meats, small game, roasts, stews, legumes and cured or creamy cheeses. Notable vintages such as 2016 and 2018 have received high praise, earning 93 points from Robert Parker, Tim Atkin and Guía Peñín, among others, and awards such as Gold at the Berliner Wine Trophy. Production is limited, with around 145,000 bottles for the 2016 vintage. It is described as a modern and complex Ribera del Duero, reflecting both the character of the region and the legacy of its namesake.
