Marqués de Badajoz Cava from Extremadura 75 CL. CAVA BRUT.
Marqués de Badajoz is a sparkling cava produced by Bodegas Medina (Antonio Medina e Hijos), a family winery founded in 1931 in Zafra (Badajoz, Extremadura), although the must for its production comes from authorized areas such as Almendralejo to comply with the D.O. Cava.
It is mainly made with 100% Macabeo grape (although some sources mention blends with Parellada or Xarello), using the traditional champenoise method, with a minimum aging of 24 months in the bottle.
Main Features:
- Available Varieties: Mainly Brut Reserva and Extra Brut.
- Alcohol content: 12% vol.
- Presentation: 75 cl bottle (standard), in boxes of 6 units.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: Pale yellow with greenish reflections, fine and persistent bubbles.
- Nose: Aromas of ripe fruits, dried fruits, baked apple, citrus, and hints of pastry or yeast.
- On the palate: Smooth, fresh and fruity, with good acidity, well-integrated carbonation and a persistent finish. It is dry (low in residual sugar, especially in the Extra Brut version).
- Serving Temperature: 5-6 ºC.
- Ideal pairing: Appetizers, seafood, fish, cold meats, nuts, or as a companion for celebrations.
It is a cava with an excellent quality-price ratio and awarded in competitions such as the Espiga Awards, and valued for its freshness and complexity, despite coming from a lesser-known region for cavas such as Extremadura.
