Papirusa Manzanilla de Lustau D.O.P. Sanlúcar de Barrameda, 75 cl.

Manzanilla Papirusa from Bodegas Lustau is a dry fortified wine, made from 100% Palomino Fino grapes and protected by the Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda Designation of Origin. This wine ages under a veil of flor in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, following the traditional solera and criaderas system, in a microclimate influenced by the sea breeze at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River.

Papirusa is a classic and highly appreciated manzanilla, produced by Bodegas Lustau, one of the most prestigious wineries in the Jerez region. This wine is a faithful reflection of the essence of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a place where the special microclimate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean breeze, creates the perfect conditions for aging under a veil of flor.

Main Features

  • Type of wine: Manzanilla (generous dry).

  • Denomination of Origin: PDO Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

  • Grapes: 100% Palomino Fino.

  • Aging: Papirusa is aged biologically, which means that it ages under a layer of yeast called velo de flor. This veil protects it from contact with the air and gives it its characteristic saline and sharp flavor and unique aromas.

  • Color: Pale straw yellow, almost transparent, with greenish reflections.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose (Aroma): Fine, sharp and with a marked saline character. Notes of almonds, bakery, yeast and, above all, a touch of iodine that evokes the sea breeze.

  • Palate (Taste): Dry, fresh and light. On the palate it is very saline and sharp, with vibrant acidity and a long, lingering finish, leaving a clean and very refreshing sensation.

Pairing

Its saline and dry profile makes it an ideal aperitif and the perfect companion for Andalusian and seafood cuisine. Splendid with:

  • Seafood: Oysters, white shrimps, prawns and all kinds of cooked seafood.

  • Pescado frito: The classic Andalusian “pescaíto frito”.

  • Ham and sausages: Combines wonderfully with Iberian ham and other sausages.

  • Tapas: Olives, salted almonds and pickles.

Service Temperature

To fully enjoy its freshness and complexity, it is recommended to serve it very cold, between 6°C and 8°C (43°F and 46°F). It is a wine that should be consumed within a short period of time after opening to maintain its qualities.
