Pruno Crianza Ribera del Duero 75cl

Pruno Crianza Ribera del Duero 75cl is a red wine from Ribera del Duero, Spain, produced by Finca Villacreces. It is a blend of Tempranillo (90-94%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (6-10%) and, in some vintages such as 2022, a touch of Merlot (1%).

The wine undergoes manual harvesting, double selection of grapes and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (some sources mention a blend of 75% French oak and 25% American oak for certain vintages).

It has an alcohol content of between 14 and 14.3% and is recommended to be served at a temperature of 16 to 18 °C (61 to 64 °F).

Tasting notes:

• Pruno Crianza has an intense cherry color with purple trim. It presents aromas of ripe red fruits, such as blueberries and cherries, with notes of licorice, caramel, roasted coffee and balsamic hints.
• The palate is juicy, velvety and balanced, with fine tannins, good structure and a persistent, slightly spicy finish.
• Food pairings: Pairs well with red meats, roasts, game, complex salads and cheeses or cured meats such as Iberian ham.
• Acknowledgments: Highly praised by Robert Parker, who rated it as one of the best Spanish wines for value for money, with 92 points for the 2019 and 2022 vintages. Often described as “amazing” and a benchmark in Ribera del Duero’s Golden Mile.

Winery: Finca Villacreces, located in Quintanilla de Onésimo, covers 110 hectares, with between 64 and 82 hectares of vineyards planted around 1980 on sandy loam soils at an altitude of 710 meters. The estate, which belongs to Bodegas Familiares Artevino, benefits from a unique microclimate thanks to its proximity to the Duero River and a century-old pine forest.
