Lustau Almacenista Oloroso del Puerto Gonzalez Obregon, 50cl
The Oloroso del Puerto from Lustau’s Almacenista range is an exceptional sherry wine, the result of the meticulous work of the almacenistas, independent artisans who have aged small productions of sherries in traditional soleras. In this case, Lustau selects the casks of José Luis González Obregón, located in El Puerto de Santa María, to bottle this wine with all its authenticity and character.
Its aromatic profile is intense and enveloping, with smoky notes and hints of old wood, truffle and spices. The palate is structured, with hints of toasted nuts and a background of dark chocolate. The palate is round and the finish is long and clean, leaving a warm and persistent sensation.
With an alcohol content of 20%, this Oloroso is ideal to accompany game dishes, roasted meats, hearty stews and cured cheeses. A jewel of Jerez oenology, it encapsulates the essence of oxidative aging wines and the mastery of the winemakers.
This wine belongs to the prestigious “Almacenista” collection of Bodegas Lustau, a series of wines from Jerez that pay tribute to small producers and winemakers who, in an artisanal and private way, raise their own wines. In this case, the protagonist is José Luis González Obregón, an “almacenista” from El Puerto de Santa María.
Main Features
-
Type of wine: Oloroso (generous dry).
-
Appellation of Origin: D.O. Jerez-Xérès-Sherry.
-
Grapes: 100% Palomino Fino.
-
Aging: This Oloroso is the result of oxidative aging, unlike Fino or Manzanilla which are biologically aged. This means that the wine is in contact with the air throughout its aging, without the flor veil. This gives it a darker color and a much more concentrated aromatic and flavor profile. José Luis González Obregón’s wine comes from a solera of 110 butts in El Puerto de Santa María, with an average age of more than 12 years.
-
Color: Dark mahogany with greenish hues, the result of its long oxidative aging.
Tasting Notes
-
Nose (Aroma): Very intense and complex. Notes of old wood, smoky aromas, toasted nuts (walnut, hazelnut), truffle, sweet spices and a touch of dark chocolate.
-
Palate: Powerful and structured, but at the same time round and elegant. It is dry on the palate, with balanced acidity. The same nuances are appreciated as in the nose, with flavors of nuts, chocolate and spices. The finish is long, warm and persistent.
Pairing
Due to its body and complexity, Oloroso is an ideal wine to accompany strong and intensely flavored dishes:
-
Red meats: Perfect for grilled meats, roasts and game stews.
-
Stews: Splendid with meat stews, tripe or oxtail.
-
Cheeses: It combines very well with cured and blue cheeses.
-
Desserts: It is an excellent choice for desserts with nuts, dark chocolate or coffee.
Service Temperature
It is recommended to be served at a temperature between 13°C and 14°C. It should not be served too cold, as this could dull the complexity of its aromas and flavors.
