Brandy de Jerez Luis Felipe Gran Reserva D.O.P. in 70 cl bottle is a high quality grape distillate, known for its exceptionally complex flavor and aroma. Produced in the region of Jerez, Spain, this brandy is distinguished by its age and unique aging process.
History and Origin
The discovery of Brandy Luis Felipe is a legendary story. At the end of the 19th century, barrels of an exceptionally old brandy were found in a cellar in La Palma del Condado (Huelva). These barrels, marked with the name “Luis Felipe”, were destined for the Duke of Montpensier, son of the King of France, Louis Philippe I, and their quality was so extraordinary that the brand was registered for marketing.
Breeding System
The key to its quality lies in its aging method, the criaderas and solera system, typical of the Marco de Jerez. This process consists of stacking barrels in rows (criaderas) and, periodically, a small portion of brandy is extracted from the lower barrels (solera) for bottling, which is then replenished with brandy from the upper criaderas. Brandy Luis Felipe is aged in American oak casks that have previously contained sherry wines, which gives it a unique character.
