Luis Felipe Premium D.O.P. Brandy de Jerez 70 cl
Tasting notes: A very intense dark mahogany colour with golden edges and amber highlights. A subtle aroma of vanilla and well-aged, wine-soaked wood. The ageing aromas stand out, delicate and persistent on the retronasal passage. Sweet, smooth, with a blend of bitter notes. Excellent finish and aftertaste. Well-rounded and balanced.
Luis Felipe Premium D.O.P. Sherry Brandy, in a 70 cl bottle, is a high-quality grape spirit, renowned for its exceptionally complex flavour and aroma. Produced in the Jerez region of Spain, this brandy is distinguished by its age and its unique ageing process.
History and Origin
The discovery of Luis Felipe Brandy is a legendary story. In the late 19th century, barrels of an exceptionally aged brandy were discovered in a cellar in La Palma del Condado (Huelva). These barrels, marked with the name ‘Luis Felipe’, were intended for the Duke of Montpensier, son of King Louis-Philippe I of France, and their quality was so extraordinary that the brand was registered for commercial sale.
Parenting System
The secret to its quality lies in its ageing method, the criaderas and solera system, typical of the Marco de Jerez. This process involves stacking barrels in rows (criaderas) and, periodically, drawing a small portion of the brandy from the lower barrels (solera) for bottling, which is then replenished with brandy from the upper criaderas. Luis Felipe Brandy is aged in American oak barrels that have previously contained sherry, which gives it a unique character.
