To do so, they built using the subway galleries built in the 13th century and followed the meticulous winemaking method developed more than 400 years ago. The result is an excellent range of wines considered some of the best in the world.

The Oremus Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos Añada 2019 is a high quality sweet wine from the prestigious Tokaj region in Hungary. The Oremus winery is owned by the Spanish group Tempos Vega Sicilia, which gives it a seal of excellence and a rigorous winemaking process.

This wine is produced only in exceptional vintages, when climatic conditions are perfect for the development of “botrytis cinerea” or “noble rot”, a fungus that concentrates the sugars and aromas of the grapes. The term “Puttonyos” refers to the baskets of botrytized (aszú) grapes added per 136-liter barrel. A 3 Puttonyos is the lowest level of sweetness within the Aszú category, but still a wine with remarkable sweetness and vibrant acidity.

Wine characteristics

Vintage: 2019, considered an exceptional vintage for Aszú wines.

Type of wine: Natural sweet white (liqueur).

Grape varieties: Mainly Furmint, Zéta and Hárslevelü.

Alcoholic strength: About 12% vol.

Format: Bottle of 50 cl.

Aging: Aged in 136 and 220 liter Hungarian oak barrels in the property’s subway cellars for 2 to 3 years.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Bright golden color.

Nose: Intense and complex aromas of candied fruits (apricot, quince, lime), honey, honeycomb and citrus notes.

Palate: It is an elegant wine, fresh and unctuous at the same time.
